The Federal Government on Monday July 29 Revealed That it has set up centres across the country where 50kg bags of rice will be sold at the rate of #40,000 naira each.
Minister for Information And National Orientation Mohammed Idris ,while speaking to the Press during an interview said this is part of the responsive measures intensified by the Tinubu Administration to cushion the Spate of rising prices of food commodity across the country.
According To Idris’ The position of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) is that most of the demands that the protesters are making is currently being addressed by the federal government and therefore it is of no need for the proposed protest to go ahead as indicated.
For Example,the efforts that government is making to ensure that food is being made available, as a matter of fact the last council meeting held, we announced that a number of trucks, 20 precisely had been given to state governors for onward distribution to those who are actually in need of them. But government did not stop there as the issue of prevalent rise in the cost of food commodity such as rice has been looked into. I can confidently inform you that the price of a 50kg rice is now pegged at the rate of #40,000 for Nigerians to buy or afford than what is obtainable before now.
He also reiterated that these Rice bags has been taken to various centres across the states of the federation so that the people can have access to them at the Stipulated price rate..The Honorable Minister Concluded.
