Victory in politics is not about who dominates the structure but who keeps it together

The unfolding political dynamics within the All Progressives Congress (APC) power bloc ahead of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 reelection bud have entered a new phase, as the principle of balance of interest becomes a critical stabilizing tool amid rival caucuses jostling for dominance within the proposed campaign machinery.

For months, the internal struggle between the Tinubu Mandate Movement (TMM), And Elements of the Tinubu Mandate Movement Group (TMMG) had escalated into a silent but intense battle for the control and recognition of Asiwaju’s official 2027 campaign structure.

The rivalry largely driven by influence, recognition, and access to the core of decision making within the ruling party, had threatened to polarize the support base if not carefully managed. However recent developments indicate that balance of interest anchored on fairness, inclusion, and loyalty has gradually become the guiding philosophy in restoring calm and strategic focus within Tinubu’s loyal circles.

Key mediators and influential party stakeholders have reportedly emphasized unity of purpose over factional supremacy, ensuring that  both The TMMG, TMM and the reemerging  Justice Forum (JF) feel accommodated in the larger campaign ecosystem being discreetly put together.

Justice Forum’s Strategic Comeback

The merger moves initiated by the Justice Forum, once a formidable progressive caucus in Lagos politics, have altered earlier calculations within TMM’s camp. JF’s re-entry into the mainstream political conversation through an alliance of legacy actors and grassroots coordinators has not only reignited its relevance but also created a power equation that is difficult to ignore.

This development, analysts say has upsets TMM’s previously clear path toward being officially adopted as the de facto campaign forum to lead the President’s 2027 bid. While TMM remains influential especially among younger political mobilizers and field strategists, the Justice Forum’s merger with TMMG a regional loyalist bloc has created a new scenario where equilibrium and collaboration have become inevitable.

TMM’s Strive For Endorsement

Despite the shifting landscape, the Tinubu Mandate Movement continues to project itself as the authentic grassroots machinery with the deepest field network capable of mobilising massive voter outreach across the Southwest and beyond. Its leadership has been working tirelessly to gain Tinubu’s explicit endorsement as the central coordinating platform for the reelection campaign.

Sources close to the presidency suggest that Tinubu may prefer a hybrid structure, an umbrella coordination that harmonizes all loyal groups rather than elevating one caucus above another. This approach reflects his longstanding political philosophy of inclusion, negotiation, and balance of interest. A strategy that helped him build coalitions and maintain dominance in Lagos politics for over two decades

A Lesson in Political Equilibrium

Observers believe that the current scenario offers a vital lesson in political maturity and power bakancing. Rather than allowing factional interests to weaken the movement, the ongoing realignment is creating a more coordinated, all encompassing structure that could strengthen Tinubu’s 2027 campaign machinery nationwide. In essence the balance of interest has become both a unifying ideology and a survival strategy.

As the Justice Forum repositions itself through tactical mergers and TMM continues its push for formal recognition, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s core loyalists appear to be rediscovering the timeless truth that victory in politics is not about who dominates the structure  but by who keeps or wields it together.
