In the spirit of tradition, grassroots engagement, and cultural reverence, Hon.Babayeju Samuel A.K.A BabSam, the All Progressives Congress (APC)Councilorship Candidate for Ward A, Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, paid a courtesy call to the Oba -Elect of Megida Ajerogun Ogunshemi Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba Abdul Azeez Salam Olaleye, at the Royal Palace Today, Wednesday 2nd July, 2025.

The visit which formed part of Hon. Babayeju’s ongoing campaign tour across strategic communities in Ward A, was a symbolic gesture of respect to the royal institution and an avenue to seek divine and ancestral blessings for his political ambition ahead of the upcoming Local Government elections scheduled for July 12, 2025.

Draped in traditional attire and accompanied by his trusted aide and adviser, Hon.Kazeem Sanfran, The councilorship candidate arrived the royal court to a warm reception as the palace was filled with an aura of culture, as Elderly Chieftains representing various quarters with Ogunshemi Kingdom came out to witness the occasion.



In his address to the Oba-elect and the Royal council,
Hon.Babayeju expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to visit and reiterated his commitment to representing the people of Ward A with honor, integrity and responsibility. He acknowledged the importance of the traditional institution as a key partner in community development and governance at grassroots level.
According to the prospective councilor ”Our traditional rulers are the backbone of cultural heritage and moral guidance in our communities,” Hon.Babayeju stated. ” My visit here today is not just a campaign routine, but a personal act of homage to a leader we hold in highest esteem. I have come to seek royal blessings and align my aspiration with the wishes of our ancestors, under your noble watch.”
In his response, the Monarch-elect ,His Royal Majesty Abdul-Azeez Salam Olaleye, commended Hon.Babayeju for his humility and respect for tradition. He noted that the progress of any community lies in the cooperation between political leadership and traditional rulers.


” We are custodians of the people’s culture, and we welcome politician who recognize the strength and wisdom of the royal stool,” said the Oba-elect. ” Your gesture today reflects the values of unity and progress that Ogunshemi Ajerogun Kingdom cherishes. May the ancestors and our forebearers guide you.
The highlight of the visit was the formal presentation of traditional kola nuts,alligator pepper, and symbolic aromatic gin, which was received by the Oba-elect and blessed by the Royal Eldership Council. Prayers were offered for political success, peace in Ward A, and a new dawn of responsible representation under Babayeju’s leadership.
Chief Ajulo Adeniran , the Head of the Royal Council’s Eldership Cabinet, led the special royal blessings, followed by Elder Ajao Olaleye charged Hon.Babayeju to be a servant-leader who listens to the cries of the people, particularly in rural and neglected areas of the ward.

” Do not forget the inner roads, the poor, the widows, and our children. Your coming to the palace shows good omen. Go and prosper,” Chief Adeniran declared.
The visit to the palace of the Oba-elect underscores the importance of cultural legitimacy and grassroots connection in contemporary politics, especially in cosmopolitan communities like Ayobo-Ipaja. It also sends a strong signal that Hon. Babayeju Samuel is building a wide coalition of support that includes not just political stakeholders, but also traditional authorities,youth, artisans, market women, and religious leaders.
