The Event tagged an’ Evening of Lecture,Awards,Dinner & Carols’ witnessed a relatively low-keyed affair,with seasoned high profile career officers, celebrity guest appearances,students of Lagos state model choral group amidst others were all in attendance.
As part of it’s reputation for promoting good governance at the third tier level with excellence for public administration through an impeccable Template, LGNews Academy continues to etched its name on marble arguably as a facilitator of entrepreneurial developmental Skills and up to standard trainings on capacity building for an array of target audience ranging from Youths To Local Government Personnel’s with State Agencies inclusive. Its commitment to charting ground breaking innovations pivotal to accelerated growth of revenue generation with efficient redistribution of common wealth back to the people depicts a fundamental theory in governance which transmits how policy formulation is implemented to foster dividends of democracy.
The Prestigious event kicked off with high spirits as the organizers took the entire guests on a progression of lectures delivered by selected key note speakers on topical issues outlined for the bill of program respectively. Also was the rendering of Christmas carols by invited students from Lagos State Model Choral Group Who delivered an amazing Christmas carol recital to the delight of enthusiastic guests at the venue.

Speaking with The GM(General Manager), Lagos state Consumer Protection agency (LASCOPA), Afolabi Solebo Esq, Who in his remarks extolled the MD of LG News Academy Mr Tunde Jakande’s unwavering passion in the course of steering the organisation over the years.
According to him’ Its a glorious one, talking about the fifteenth year anniversary of LG News Academy and a great pleasure for me to be here to witness it,more so Kudos to be given as we all know fifteen years is no joke,for being consistent and my prayer is for the establishment to soar beyond the present because what he is doing is phenomenal’.
In a similar vein Mr Felix Akaeze, An Assistant Director FIRS (Federal inland Revenue) And Invitee at the occasion expressed ‘My greatest interest in these is the local government focus which addresses the grassroot with the accurate type of education and support ,Then Nigeria will be a great Nation’.
According to Mr Felix, local government grassroot support needs to be well educated as to the Nigerian Project going on at the upper level,we have a lot of potentials but are they channeled towards the right direction?This is where LG News Comes In.
The D-G, PPA(Public Procurement Agency) of Lagos State, Mr Onafowote Fatai Idowu had this to say ‘ Today we are celebrating LG News Academy Fifteen years of Operation And Impactful Seminars, Trainings on leadership, and Development,Through Which we have seen practical demonstration for accountability.
Moving on, the DG stressed the need to put the people first,citing these as a key feature in the policy statements of LGNA with its radical approach to Leadership. According to him it is the mandate of the people that puts in place the machinery for administrative capacity to function, so power actually belongs to the people and its falls within the expectations to provide those basic things that make life meaningful and that’s what LGNA emphasize on talking about Values and Leadership.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information And Strategy, Mr Olumide Shogunle Who represented the Lagos state Governor at the Anniversary program also added his voice ‘ Well Today’s Event Has Been So Inspiring To Me, I Saw An Individual Babatunde Jakande Who displayed the love he has for Lagos state and Nigeria, I listened to the feat he has achieved by impacting leadership skills on people who work in the public service and how he has used his news medium to propagate the happenings in local government of Lagos state. Its a rare trait to find in this present times we live in and I encourage him to continue and am very sure he will go places.
Mr Victor Okene An I.T (Information Technology )Guru and Bosom Friend To Mr Jakande chided in ‘ LG news Has Been A landmark organization promoting the development, training of staffs and Personnel’s in Lagos state, he has been steadfast and committed in changing the landscape and the vision in local government in terms of funding and other meaningful incentive that will transform the art of governance for efficient service delivery to the grassroots. He has been doing it at local level and by extension the global stage, I want to wish him and the entire staff a job well done.
Catching up with Oladejo Oluwatoyosi The MC (Master of Ceremony) at the function who spoke with our reporter on the significance of the event. ‘As their Name Implies ‘Learning Gives New Abilities’This is a customary norm about the organisation as it affords a steady learning process anytime you are within their circuit of operations. The activities we have witnessed today from keynote address to the choral rendition coupled with the goodwill message from the Lagos state governor..this goes a long way to align with the rising profile of the organisation. For the governor to identify and acknowledge their efforts is something worth celebrating indeed.’
Drawing the curtain for the day, we stopped to interact with the man of the moment, the quintessential Tunde Jakande widely referred to as ‘BIG T-JAK’, and MD LG News Academy, Who in an elated moment shared his heartfelt gratitude to God For Being His Strongest Motivator To Champion The Herculean Task For The Past Fifteen Years Noting That A lot Who Started With Them Had Ceased To Exist Or Function anymore. In his closing remarks ‘ Yeah I can’t help but Thank God For His Mercies, like those we met when we started LG News Academy, they are not in existence but the vision is to promote good governance and excellence in public administration, and that’s not the destination, it is the journey,so that leaders can learn one way or the other from the platform we create. The Lagos State Public Service is the Best in Nigeria,Because They Focus on Training,And Not only that alone, The Government Motivates their Staffs with different allowances,pay their salaries at when due and they pay way above the minimum wage,so they continue to turn out public officers that are competent in the discharge of their duties and we key in to that vision, that is why we are here today..Thank you very much, The CEO surmised.
Major highlights from the program was donation of #200,000(two hundred thousand naira) to the Lagos state model college choral group by Mr Tunde Jakande While General Manager of LASCOPA, Afolabi Solebo Esq, And Director General Of Public Procurement Agency, Onafowote Idowu fatai also supported with the sum of #50,000 (Fifty thousand naira) each making a total of #300,000 (Three Hundred Thousand Naira) to the astonishment of the students who were completely overwhelmed with the generosity and couldn’t conceal their delight upon the announcement of the naira windfall package in quote.
While The Grand event came to an end,one thing was evident, LGNA had paid its dues in the course of carving a niche, as an organisation built on the principles of meritorious service to nurturing youths with potentials for nation building while also rendering up to standard practices for the teeming Lagos state civil service personnel at local government levels with that of State Agencies at large..Once Again We Salute Mr Tunde Jakande A Grassroot Inclined Political Idealist Who has undoubtedly earned his stripes.
