Mustapha Ridwanullahi Secured Team Kwara’s First Medal at the ongoing 8th National Youth Games In Asaba, Delta State, in the Para Table Tennis Boys Singles Category, Competing at the indoor sports hall of the Stephen Keshi Stadium.
Ridwanullahi dominated his quarter final opponent, Nwaturuchs Triumph From Imo State, with a 3-0 win (11-0,11-3, 11-1).
However, HD narrowly misef out in the semi finals, losing to Akachukwu Ima from Delta State 2-3(5-11,11-6,9-11,11-8,9-11).
In other table tennis matches, idris Ashiata was defeated in the round of 32 girls category by Samson Precious From AbiacState 1-2 (2-11, 11-6, 10-12) While Aisha Ahmed lost to Nigeria’s top player,Aisha Rabiu, from Lagos in the round of 16, 1-2(7-11, 11-8, 8-11). Meanwhile, Hauwa Seidu advanced to the round of 16 after beating Elizabeth Ndukwe Fro Abia State 2-1(11-8,7-11, 11-6).
Kwara’s head coach, Kehinde Aiyelabegan, commended the teams efforts and expressed optimism for securing more medals beyond the bronze won by Ridwanullahi. Competition continues at the Stephen Keshu Stadium.
