Three Police Officers Attached To Ijebu- Ife Divisional Police Post were dismissed by the Ogun State Police Command For Extorting A Tai-Solarin Student to the tune of over Three Hundred thousand Naira in Cash on the 12th of January, 2024.
The dismissed officers, Inspector Taiwo Kolawole With Force Number AP/No341113, Inspector John Ogbe with Force Number AP/309292 And Cpl Idowu Sunday With Force Number 513707.
The Officers Mentioned were together attached to Ijebu-Ifr Division In Ijebu East Local Government Area Of the State. According to the Background details, On 12/01/24 at about 0845hrs, One Kashimawo Emmanuel ‘M’ Of TASUED Ijebu-Ode, Reported At the Station That While he was driving his “Toyota Venza Car, REG No LSD 813 EX Brown Color”, that he came across a gang of four armed men, and one out of the four was wearing a police round neck camouflage, while others were on Mufti.
According To the Victim, They demanded for his phone , which he calmly declined, in the process one of them fired a Shot into the air and that was how he complied under duress. These armed men entered into his Car and he was ordered to drive towards Sagamu expressway, on getting to “Ososa”, they made a U-Turn to Ijebu -Ode, Where a Sum Of Three Hundred And Twelve Thousand Naira Was Forcefully Transferred out his account To An O-Pay Account No 9097829766.
Upon Receipt of the Report,The DPO quickly put a call to the O-Pay Account Holder And Discovered He Was A POS Operator At Ijebu-, Ode. Ogun State. The DPO Then Instructed That On No Account Should The POS Vendor release The Money Transferred To Anyone Who Comes For It. Moreso the Agent (POS) Should Deplore Tactical Means To Delay Whoever Comes For the Money Pendung His Arrival.
On getting to the POS Shop at Ibadan garage, One Force Number 513707 Cpl Idowu Sunday Attached To Ijebu- Ife was met waiting to Cash the Money and was apprehended immediately. While taking him to the Station, He Revealed His Accomplices, who fitted the reported Badge description with names, All attached to ijebu-Ife Division, and a civilian, Adesiyan Mathew Who apparently the driver was arrested. In a Similar Development Prior To Investigation, Two Complainants Who fell victim at different operators were also brought forward, And Identified The Same Officers To Have Accosted Them , Thereby Dispossessed of valued items and personal belongings by the Bad Cops While narrating their ordeal and encounter.
