The Nigerians In  Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) Chairman, Abike Dabiri has wade in to the ongoing xenophobic attack and Anti-nigerian  protests in Ghana, thereby calling for fairer treatment of it’s citizens

The NIDCOM Boss in a granted interview cautioned against blanket outrage displayed against Nigerians living in Ghana, According to her, the stereotype and general branding of Nigerians as criminally minded is unjust and should be widely condemned.

In a statement issued, Mrs Dabiri said ” Nigerians are not criminals. They are good ambassadors wherever they find themselves, while those bad ones should be fished out to face necessary sanctions.”

She added, Ghana and Nigeria are like Siamese twins. They are brothers and in the spirit of ECOWAS and regional integration should continue to live in peace like brothers.

Dabiri made this appeal in response to a footage circulating on social media which showed Ghanaians staging a protest, demanding the deportation of Nigerians for their alleged involvement in prostitution and ritual killings in the county.

In the viral video shared online recently , a large crowd of protesters were seen holding placards with messages such as : Armed robbery and violent attacks must stop,” Our health is at risk due to mass prostitution,” ”Who protects the rights and freedoms of Nigerians?” ” Nigerians are kidnapping and using people for rituals,” and ” Our children are going missing because of Igbo’s,” among others.

These intervention by the NIDCOM Chairman  can be deemed timely and a  diplomatic overturn given the rising spate of ethnic-prone incitement against a particular tribe, Nigerians should learn to address issues disposed to critical thinking irrespective of misleading contents tainting Nigerians in bad light, kudos once again to Mrs Abike Dabiri ,Chairman NIDCOM for using her office to clarify misconceptions about the Nigerian citizenry Living anywhere In the  world. Nigerians deserve respect, honour and dignity and no bad eggs found amongst its people must pollute, batter or stigmatise the Nigerian Image and identity on foreign soil to the chagrin of others whom are law abiding as one Adebayo Abdullah a netizen stated on the ensuing crisis in Ghana to the NIDCOM chairman ” You had better address these issue now,Mrs Abike Dabiri, before they start doing what South Africans meted out to Nigerians in their country.
