…SAYS ARREST NO RELATED WITH POLICE INVITATION
Human Rights lawyer Femi Falana , SAN, has reacted to the arrest of the president of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Joe Ajaero. The Senior Advocate And Counsel to the NLC Leader clarified that the arrest was unrelated to an earlier invitation by the Nigeria Police Force, which had been rescheduled last week. ‘I have contacted the police authorities, and they have confirmed that this arrest has nothing to do with the previous invitation’, Falana noted.

The police had initially invited Ajaero For questioning over a threat to public peace’, but the interrogation was postponed, making the DSS Arrest even more illogical amidst growing concerns over the motives behind it.
The human rights lawywr- activist who fumed At the Gestapo Manner his client was picked up on his way to honour an invitation in the UK, highlighted the lack of clarity from the DSS regarding the reasons for Ajaero’s detention, raising concerns about its legality and motivation.

The backdrop to Ajaero’s legal battles with the law includes a police raid on the NLC headquarters on August 7, intended to find materials related to anti government protests. Ajaero had previously been interrogated by the police in August 29 over allegations including terrorism finanving, buy had not received clear charges. Falana continued to demand transparency and justification for Ajaero’s recent arrest, reflecting rising hostilities and daggers drawn between labour leaders and the Law Enforcement Agencies Of Nigeria at Large.
