In view of its resolve to pursue a common vision and interest across board under its purview, the executive committee of Agbajowanife CDA led by the ably Chairman Alhaji Adegoke has embarked on its annual medical check up exercise as part of efforts to engage resident stakeholders in its continual free medical check up sensitization campaign throughout its olayemi- green light enclaves within ayobo/ipaja LCDA Lagos State.Nigeria.
Speaking with Mrs Isaac Omoyeme ,An Official Of The Visiting Medical Outreach NGO, Who also doubles as TBC Supervisor Alimosho Local Government via a recorded audio interview
‘We are here to screen people in this community on TB, because it is an airborne disease and due to the weather and community they reside,there is an urgent need to verify after our routine health checks to ascertain their medical status whether they are healthy or not so as to mitigate the transmission of the contagious disease in view’.
Beaming More On The Causes Of Tuberculosis, Mrs Isaac posited that it is a disease that kills the lungs,and it comes with cough,chest pain, night fever, sweat, nightspots,and in most cases it can lead to a patient collapsing or the victim can have hunch back which might lead to death, it is also on record that ‘TB’ is related to the dreaded HIV Disease, Reasons why we are carrying out this medical sensitization to notify the people of the potential risk and consequences attached to Tuberculosis when not treated on time,however the case scenario may be, yet it is a curable ailment.
We Thank God For Nigeria And Our NGO, That The Treatment of Tuberculosis is free, The Test is equally Free and by extension to that of HIV virus practically comes with no cost.
When asked about who is liable to contact Tuberculosis, Mrs Omayeme explained that it is not streamlined down to a particular age bracket, the common feature to take note is that of a carrier who can transmit the disease to the nearest person. It could either be from a mother to a new born baby who is still at a vulnerable stage due to the immune system which is not that strong to contain the adverse impact of the disease in quote.
The Damier Foundation A partly Nigeria -Belgium NGO is affiliated to World Health Organisation and it runs a free medical test and consultancy while she pointed that the drugs prescribed at any of their outreach program is strictly free.
In a similar development, one of the residents who came for the medical check, Mr Abdulkareem commended the efforts of the Agbajowa nife Green light Estate for taking it upon themselves to continue with the regular health sensitization program which has impacted on the vulnerable and aged residents living in the community at large.
According to him ‘The Test We Are Having Here is Okay, Its for Olayemi environs, the health initiative is quite similar to what they also do at the General hospital so I can confidently assume that it is a laudable criterion and I want to beckon on the Executive Body Of Our CDA Not to rest on their oars but keep up with the great job they are doing, we are not only proud of them but can be assured of our maximum support whenever the call arise’.
