A Serving Senator representing Kano South Senatorial District,Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila has been trolled online by Angry Nigerians from his recent statement where he was quoted that he earns a cumulative sum of #21million naira monthly in salary and allowances, sequel to a recent increment. A claim that has further lent credence to the recent allegations by a former President OluSegun Obasanjo on the indiscriminate fixing of humongous salary package by the National Assembly As Satanic, This alarming perception raised by Obasanjo was immediately discarded and refuted by the Serving Senators in a swift response, labelling such assertions as an unfounded information.
According to Abdurrahman Who made the disclosure in a chat With the BBC Hausa Service This Wednesday Morning. The Senator gave a total breakdown of his official salary as lesser than #1Million Naira, but with deductions, it comes down to around #600,000.
However in a stunning revelation, The Kano South Senatorial District Serving Senator exposed that contrary to general speculations, each senator receives #21Million Naira Monthly As Running Costs, Which is separate from their own salary.

There has been an Uproar amidst controversy about the amount federal law makers earn monthly, given the present economic realities.
Recall the the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation And Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), An Agency responsible for fixing salaries and allowances of political office holders, stated that each senator collects a total monthly salary and allowsof #1,063,860. The commission’s breakdown of the cumulative take-home pay includes basic salary of #168,866:70; Motor Vehicle Fuelling And Maintenance Allowance of #126,650; #42,216:66 for personal assistant; domestic staff-#126,650:00; entertainment –#50,660:00; utilities –#50,660; Newspapers/Periodicals –#25,330:00; Wardrobe Allowance–#42,216,66:00; house Maintenance -#8,443.33 and Constituency allowance- #422,166:66; respectively.
Meanwhile the Senator has Continued to receive bashing from Nigerians online who took to the comment section airing their views.. One Netizen Ikem Umegbogu was quoted as saying ‘WellDone”, Another Derrick Chukwu simply opined “it’s okay. Just fix the economy”.. Tochukwu Jacob couldn’t hold back his dissatisfaction by tweeting “OGA you didn’t make any point here because I was expecting you to say it’s too much” While Apeh Monday Samuel Was quick To Reply “Why wont he say his salary is exorbitant when he is benefiting from it”.
