
A foremostHuman Rights Organization noted for defending the rights of citizens of Nigeria – Committee for the defence of Human Rights (CDHR) has took the Lagos state House of Assembly to task over the brutal murder of Bamishe Ayanwola inside BRT and the death of street-pop singer Ilerioluwa oladmeji Aloba popularly known as Mohbad.
In a press release signed by the Lagos State Chairman of CDHR, Comrade Kehinde Adeoye, The State Secretary Comrade Adewunmi Adeshina and the State Publicity Secretary Comrade Chika Mary. Dated 6th October,2023 . The noble Human Rights Organization,While Commiserating with the family of ilerioluwa Oladmeji Aloba on the demise of their son wondered why the Lagos State House of Assembly was quick to lend it’s voice to the call for the cause of Mohbad death to be unraveled while ignoring to do same on the circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder of 22 year old Miss Oluwabamishe Abigail Ayanwola inside a Lagos state Government facility -The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) being operated by LBSL (Lagos Bus Service Ltd) to have kept mute over the brutal murder of a Lagos Commuter who patronized the BRT bus thinking it was safe but regrettably met her untimely death inside the vehicle over Nineteen (19) months (1 year,7 months) ago but in less than 2 weeks, reacting publicly to Mohbad’s Death, Stating that the case of death should be unraveled leaves much to be desired.
The Statement describes Lagos state House of Assembly reaction to Mohbad’s Death as “mere hypocrisy”. The Statement added that the Reputed Human Rights outfit- CDHR Members in their large numbers stormed the Lagos State House of Assembly at Alausa -Ikeja, Lagos on Tuesday 11 July, 2023- the day that made it 500 days that Bamishe Ayanwola was “murdered in cold blood” insisting on seeing the Speaker but after over four hours of insistence, The Majority Leader of the House,An official letter regarding same, was delivered and received in the office of the Hon.Speaker on 26 July,2023 and copied: The Chief Judge of Lagos State, the Attorney General & Commisioner for justice, the Commissioner of police,Lagos State;Office of the Clerk of the House of Assembly; Majority Leader of the House, O/C Civic Engagement -Governor’s Office, Women Advocacy, Research & Documentation Centre (WARD C) urging the authorities to prevail on the Lagos State Judiciary to give the murder case “the accelerated hearing” it promised but up till this moment nothing has been done on Bamishe’s case which has suffered series of unnecessary adjournments. Only the office of the Chief Judge of Lagos State acknowledged the letter “JUSTICE DELAYED IS JUSTICE DENIED”.
The Statement also Challenged the Authorities to Confirm if truly the murder suspect,Andrew Nice Omininikoron is still in prison custody it would be recalled that 22 year old Miss Oluwabamishe Ayanwola was raped and murdered (Autopsy Report) inside BRT bus on Saturday 26 February, 2022 around 7:30 pm between Chevron Bus-stop, Ajah and Lagos Island while on board BRT No 240257,. Thursday 19, October 2023 will make it 600 (six hundred ) days since she was murdered yet Justice is still being awaited.
