The Member ,House of Representatives for Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II, MHR Hon Barr Jessy Okey-Joe Onuakalusi of the labour party on Tuesday 10,2023 (Two days ago) engaged the electorates On A Recap of legislative politicking Business at the Plenary Session of the House of Representatives on their behalf, In an interactive engagement with his Constituents on the passage of 2 bills at first stage.

The bill are as follows

1.Child Rights And Welfare Commission Establishment Bill,2023 [HB.558]

2. Criminal Code Act {Amendment} Bill,2023 [H.B 559]

These bills when accented and passed into law will add more value to the lives of my Constituency in particular and Nigerians..The Labour Party Card Carrying Legislative Law Maker, also moved a motion on establishment of functional libraries in the seven hundred and seventy four (774) local government areas in Nigeria.

Speaking further “The motion we voted on, adopted and referred to the House Committee on Education as well as that of University Education. Libraries serve as vital catalyst for intellectual growth, Education and societal progress and as a result of the stark realities in this particular endeavor it is noteworthy to pontificate on the fact that Many local government’s lack functional libraries within their Communities.

Functional Libraries can bridge the digital divides by offering Computer Internet Connectivity, Digital literacy training, enhancement of Digital Skills, Online Resources and employability prospects.

He buttressed the establishment of functional libraries at local government levels will enhance the rate of literacy and boost chances by making one eligible to benefit from educational opportunities,it will also provide access to a diverse range of Books,learning materials with educational resources that will aid, and enable children, youths with adults to develop. Their reading skills, expand their knowledge by pursuing lifelong learning; local libraries will provide essential information empowering individuals to make inform decisions,develop critical thinking skills and promote cultural exchange, social cohesion with engagement through Educational programs, workshops,events and cultural celebrations, Fostering a sense of Unity.

Also be informed that establishing functional libraries requires a suitable infrastructure, including furniture’s with necessary equipment, the need for local government to collaborate with Educational institutions, utilize existing facilities or Consider repurposing community spaces to minimize costs.

Convinced that the establishment of active functional libraries in all 774 local governments areas in Nigeria will contribute to the Overall development of the Nations Further Aware that Nigerians reading culture is low, and functional libraries can help resharpen reading habits, enhance agricultural revolution in view. These libraries provide practical information and pedagogical knowledge on farming and farm implementations.

On a final note, the House resolves to (I) urge the Federal Ministry Of Education to establish an active functional library with e-library across the 774 local Government Areas In Nigeria, and (ii) Mandate the Committee on University Education to ensure Implementations
