As the day draws close to the July 12,2025 Local Government Elections in Lagos State, one name resonates loudly across the wards and streets of Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA– Hon. Lukman Abiodun Agbaje, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship Candidate. Known for his calm resolve, grassroots influence, and unwavering dedication to public service, Agbaje is stepping into the political ring with a clear vision and tested will.

In this exclusive interview with Community Chat, Agbaje opens up about his aspirations,plans for Ayobo-Ipaja, the strength of the APC, and his faith in the people he hopes to serve.

Q: Hon.Agbaje, congratulations on clinching the APC ticket for the Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA Chairmanship race. How does it feel to be at this critical junction?

Agbaje:

Thank you. I feel deeply honored and energized. This journey is not just about politics;it’s about purpose. The trust reposed in me by the party leadership, community stakeholders, and the good people of Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA is not what I take with levity. This is a call to service , and I am fully ready to deliver.

Q: What inspired your decision to contest for the position of LCDA Executive Chairman?

Agbaje:

I have been part of thus community all my life. I understand its pulse, its potential, and its challenges. Over the years, I have been privileged to serve in various party and community roles. What I see now is an opportunity to consolidate that experience into real, measurable impact. My candidacy is inspired by the desire to deepen grassroots governance, bridge infrastructure gaps, and empower the youth and vulnerable among us.

Q: What makes your leadership approach different from others?.

Agbaje:

I do not come with empty promises, I come with a proven track record of community service, party loyalty, and administrative competence. I believe in participatory leadership where every voice matters. I have always worked from bottom-up, engaging the people first before policies are formed. What I’m bringing to the table is not Just action but  inclusive action, one that reflects the diverse needs of Ayobo-Ipaja.

Q:What are your top developmental priorities if elected Chairman?

Agbaje:

The people of Ayobo-Ipaja deserve more, and under my administration, they will get more. My Plans are centered around six key areas:

1.Road infrastructure: We will embark on strategic rehabilitation and construction of key roads. Areas long plagued with flood and traffic bottlenecks will be redesigned for durability and accessibility.

2. Healthcare Advancement: We will upgrade our existing primary health centre to General Hospital status with state of the art medical equipment, and employ professional medical personnel.Access to quality health care will no longer be a luxury. 

3.Educational Support: Public primary and Secondary schools will receive special attention. We will renovate classrooms, provide instruct I on materials, and create platforms for teacher and student development.

4.Economic Empowerment: Through a Trader/Artisan Loan Scheme, we will boost small businesses and support artisans with capital and training. Economic vibrancy begins with financial empowerment.

5.Youth and Social Engagement: We plan to develop digital literacy centres, sports hubs, and talent development facilities to channel youthful energy productively.

6. Welfare for People with Special Abilities: We will establish a Special Duties Unit solely to address the needs of the physically challenged, ensuring inclusion in every government initiative.

Q: How do you plan to fund these projects, given the fiscal limitations if LCDA offices?

Agbaje:

I believe strongly in strategic partnerships.We will collaborate with state and federal agencies, private investors, NGOs,and leverage special intervention funds. More importantly, we will implement transparent budgeting and expenditure tracking systems to prevent leakages and ensure every naira counts. I am also confident in tapping into the enabling environment created by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, and the developmental vision of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who has been a champion of grassroots transformation.

Q. You’ve referenced party support.Can you talk about the APC family’s role in your emergence and campaign?

Agbaje:

Absolutely I am a proud product of the APC political family. From the apex leadership of our parry, led by the dynamic Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, to the unwavering support from the grassroots mobilisers and loyal ward leaders, this campaign has been a collaborative effort. I must also commend the unshakable pillar  of strength in Hon.Adebisi AbdulRahman Yusuf, Director- General ,Grassroots Mobilisation for Tinubu (GMT) Lagos State .His mentorship and total commitment to the success of Alimosho Federal Constituency have been pivotal. He is a patriot and party builder of immense value.

Q: How are you mobilising the community ahead of the July 12 elections?

Agbaje:

We have activated ward-based community engagement structures, Town hall meetings, door to door campaigns, youth forums, women conferences, everything is about connecting, listening ,and responding. We want voters to know that this is not just a political event ; its a transition to something greater; Ayobo-Ipaja is on the brink of transformation, and the people are the architects of that change.

Q: What message do you have for the residents of Ayobo-Ipaja as election day draws near?

My message is simple: This is our moment.A vote for me is a vote for accessible roads, reliable healthcare, empowered youth, thriving schools, and inclusive leadership. I ask the people not to just vote for a person, but for a plan, a future, a promise backed  by a performance.

Let us rise above political distractions and embrace developmental politics. I offer myself as a humble servant, ready to serve and be held accountable. With your votes and God’s guidance, together, we will make Ayobo-Ipaja a model of grassroots excellence in Lagos State.

Q: Final Thoughts?

Agbaje:

I extend my deepest appreciation to the APC leadership, our religious leaders both Christian and Islamic as well as our traditional institutions whose prayers and moral support have been indispensable. Special thanks to our Committee of Friends, supporters, and every resident of Ayobo- Ipaja  who has welcomed this vision.

Lastly, to Hon.Adebisi AbdulRahman Yusuf, my heartfelt gratitude. Your unflinching support, tireless commitment to progressive politics, and mentorship have strengthened not only this campaign but also the unity and vision of the Alimosho Federal Constituency.
